Concrete & Flatwork

Driveways, walkways, patios, and slabs — poured and finished to handle Colorado winters.

Concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension, and freeze-thaw cycles create stress that will find any weakness. The secret to durable concrete flatwork is controlling where cracks occur. Control joints (the grooves cut into the surface) create planned weak points where the concrete cracks beneath the surface instead of randomly across your patio or driveway. Irrivive pours concrete over a properly compacted gravel base, uses reinforcement (rebar or wire mesh) sized for the load, and places control joints at the correct spacing for the slab thickness. The result is concrete that ages gracefully instead of spider-webbing with cracks.

What's included

Site prep, grading, and gravel base compaction
Rebar or wire mesh reinforcement
Properly placed control joints for crack management
Broom or smooth finish per your preference
Optional stamping or coloring for decorative concrete

Why it matters

Concrete cracks — it's a fact of life in Colorado's freeze-thaw climate. The goal isn't preventing cracks entirely, it's controlling where they happen with properly placed control joints and a stable base that prevents settling.
